Microsoft Office Outlook has encountered a problem and needs to close ...

Sydney Lotterby

(Win2K Pro w/sp4, Office 2003 with all the latest patches as of today)

I get the following error messages repeatedly and at random in MS Word,
Excel, Outlook and now OE.
It is killing my productivity. I have searched google, tamaracka and MS KB
w/o success.

I have only had this problem since upgrading from Office XP to 2003 a couple
of weeks ago.
I would like to keep 2003 b/c it elimiates 99% of my spam when I use the
"high" setting in Outlook Junk options.
-- but only if I can resolve this problem.

No other software/hardware has recently been added.
I have reinstalled several times, run scanpst several times and rebooted
countless times.

Any help greatly appreciated.

I will try that.

1) Why is it necessary?
2) How can I convert my .pst's to 2003 format other than create a new .pst
and import (biggest one is 1.7 gig)

1. Upgrading has caused some problems that a new mail profile will resolve.
2. If you need to create a new unicode .pst file, then open the old file
(not import) in Outlook 2003. Create a new unicode .pst file and copy your
items to the new .pst file.

Thanks.

1) I also get the same error message in Word, Excel and OE. How will the
new profile fix those programs?

2) What does the unicode .pst offer me (other than the obvious
language/character extensions)?

3) Where can I read up about new features in office 2003?

1. No idea.
2. New unicode .pst files can be up to a theoretical 32 terrabytes.
3. http://www.microsoft.com/office/editions/prodinfo/compare.mspx
