I am trying to install Micrsoft Office 2000 Professional on a laptop that
previously had Microsoft Office XP Professional. A friend somehow deleted
important files related to Microsoft Office. I tried to restore to several
previous dates but to no avail. When I try the installation, I get a couple
of error messages:
1. Windows File Protection
Windows files must be installed for your installation to proceed. Insert
your Windows XP Professional Service Pack 1 CD now. (which I don't have)
2. Installer Information
Error 1933. The Windows Installer service cannot update one or more
protected Windows files.
In a previous post today (4/19/06: Problem with Shortcut), I was given info
on how to download the Windows Installer Cleanup utility. Do I use to remove
Microsoft Office XP Professional and then install Microsft Office 2000? What
now?
