Microsoft Office Professional 2007 has encountered an error!

T

have installed Microsoft Office Professional 2003 with no problems. When I
attempt to install Microsoft Office Professional 2007 I recieve this error
message.

When the install starts I select "Custom" and click that I want Outlook 2003
removed. I need all the other 2003 applications. I click continue and it
say Installing with the progress bar appearing. There is no "Cancel" button.
After about 2 or 3 minutes I get the subject message. No error number and
just a close button.

I Googled this error message but found nothing that applied to my
installation.

Appreciate you assistance.

Try installing normally, but dont select upgrade, see if that helps.
If it works you can set about removing OL2003, then adding OL2007

Hello DL...

I have tried just doing a direct install not selecting custom and the same
thing happens. I get the error was encountered with no specific error and
just the close button. I need to keep the 2003 applications on my machine
but know that Outlook will have to be removed.

What else can I try to get this to work.

Thanks

Aaron...

The secon URL covers the message I get.
(http://support.microsoft.com/kb/927153). But when I run the fix outlined
under Windows XP. There is no rgstrtn.lck file. I checked and the only
..lck files are
Hx_1033_MValidator.lck
MS.MSDNQTR.v80.en_1033_MValidator.lck
MS.SQLCC.v9_1033_MValidator.lck
MS.VSCC.v80_1033_MValidator.lck
MS.VSCC.v90_1033_MValidator.lck

Not sure where to go from here. Any suggestion would be appreciated.

I've seen where you need to rename the other lck files to get it to work, if
you want to play it safe, start by just renaming the file extension
Hx_1033_MValidator.lck and see if that works, the other lck files look like
they're for SQL Server and Visual C++ or C#.
