Microsoft Office Project Server Spooler -

Spooler runs when one connects to the server during the launch of Project on
the work station. Is there a way to increase the priority or otherwise
improve the speed/efficiency of this feature?

Thanks...

I've not seen the spooler implicated in performance problems. Typically, the
local machine's ability to number crunch and/or the LAN segment are to blame
when we see slowdowns on the client side.

Thanks...we are suddenly getting slow downs and spooler errors (0x80040e14
and 0x80004005) and I'm grasping straws right now...

Well you could have offered that little tidbit when you made your first
post!<g> I'm fairly certain that you're dealing with duplicate assignments
or other key duplication in the database. Your server's application event
log should be rather robust with red splats as well. Post some of those
errors and perhaps we can narrow down the offending plans, although you may
already know which plans you're having trouble with and you're not
sharing... Once we clear up the errors, your performance will return to
normal.

Sorry about lack of info...Actually discovered errors after 1st
post...problem fixed...error tracking didn't say so, but we think the problem
was an employee had left and their windows authentication was no longer
valid. Then, the PM did a re-publish. Everything looks OK now...thanks for
your help.

Hi Mark (Gary will know, I am sure),

I think I have the very same problem. One task had 2 resources assigned. One
of them has left the company. Now trying to "update" the timesheet after
approval is giving this error. What are the steps you took to rectify this
error ? Do I just unassign the resource from the task, save the project,
publish all the changes and then do the update ? I want to be sure as it
should not cause some irreversible damage to the project plan.

Thanks & regards,

Saibal.

Saibal:

Remove the remaining work for the employee on the task. Save and republish
the assignment. Reassign the remaining work to the other person or new
person you're adding to the task.

Hi Gary,

Thanks for the suggestions. It worked. Thanks a lot.....we have another
issue, which will be another thread that I will open now. The final objective
of updating the project plan hasn't been achieved due to this other issue.

Thanks & regards,

Saibal.
