Microsoft Office Word 2007 / Powerpoint 2007

I have recently setup a Workgroup Template for a small company we do
work for, and everything works great until they leave the office
Powerpoint and Word can take up to 15 seconds to open up (unless I
connect to the VPN tunnel)

I have narrowed it down to the template causing the problem (because
it cant see it when it is offline / not on the VPN) and attempts to
find it until it times out

Anyway of disabling that, shorten the timeout?
