I receive this message when I try to open a file in Word/Excel/Access not PP
or Outlook. I am using Office 2007 enterprise on vista 32 bit. The problem
started on March 9th after running a registry cleaner called Advanced System
Optimizer. Since then I have spent hours trying to solve the problem.
What I have done thus far:
Tried 4 backup points and all said they were unsuccessful when I rebooted.
Uninstalled/Reinstalled Office three times. First time using windows
uninstall second and third time using a utility called Revo uninstaller
The second time I also ran DriverMax to check my drivers and ccCleaner
before reinstalling
I have also run Malware bytes-Anti Malware
I have Norton running on my PC
Taken out all add-ins from both applications – tried running in safe-mode
I found an article that says to rename data and options to olddata and
oldoptions in the registry – tried and it seems to work ie. I opened 2 files
but received same error below when I opened the 3rd.
Removed my printer driver – found a site that suggested could be the problem
and I thought maybe the registry cleaner did something to the driver (I’m
trying everything at this pt) - Printer is a Networked Dell 3000 cn driver
16.16
Updated printer firm ware
I’m at my wits end. I also paid supportrix to help and they worked with me
for four hours but were unable to solve the problem.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated - my birthday was march 16th
and I hoped to have it resolved by the end of day but it is now 12:15 and I
have not resolved the issue. Please don't tell me that I shouldn't have run
the registry cleaner to begin with as I now realize it was a very stupid
thing to do.
