Microsoft Office Word Has Stopped Working

Hi;
I'm running Office 2007 Professional on a Vista Home Basic machine with a
dual core processor and 3GB of memory. When I open up Word (or PowerPoint)
the program crashes. When I try to close it I get a Microsoft Windows error
box stating: "Microsoft Office Word Has Stopped Working: A problem caused the
program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program & notify
you if a solution is available."
I press the DEBUG option and try to debug it in Visual Studio 2005. The
first error message I get is: "First Chance exception at 0x77ba42eb in
WINWORD.EXE Microsoft C++ exception _com_error at memory location
0x0016f4f4." The next message says: "Unhandled exception at 0x63fdaff6 in
WINWORD.EXE: 0xC0000005: Access violation reading location 0x000000b." Then
the Disassembly code comes up with the yellow arrow pointing at line:
"63FDAFF6 push dword ptr [esi]".
If anyone can help me figure out what's going on, or how to fix this I would
appreciate it. All of the other Office applications work fine, and Word
worked fine until a few days ago. I don't have a clue what I may have done to
create this problem. I've completely uninstalled, and re-installed both the
Office package and Word by itself a couple of times with no positive results.
Thanks.
Nick Jury.
