Microsoft Office Word has stopped working

J

"Microsoft Office Word has stopped working. A problem caused the program to
stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a
solution is available."

I running Word 2007/Vista

I get this annoying message on an intermittent basis when I double click on
a link to a Word doc file... or sometimes when I simply try to open Word.
When it appears I click OK and the program closes (after another error
message appears... don't remember what it says).

In my research I've seen suggestions to delete a registery key... but I see
different keys to delete in different posts.

How to best fix?

I have the same problem. I have reinstalled Word. I have removed all
normal.xxxx files, I have deleted the registry key. I can start word by
typing winword.exe /a and can start in safe mode with the control key. This
is making me nuts. I have removed my network printer. Is there no real help
for this insanity???? :)

I have the same problem, only every time I open Word 2007 it has "recovered"
my previous documents and when I try to save or close them, Word shuts down.
I did de-install the MS Works Suite Add In which I know does not work with
Word 2007.

I have the same problem as well. I have uninstalled & reinstalled MS Office.
I just need a fix. This program is key to my business. Where do I go to
get resolution?

Uninstalling and reinstalling almost never helps. If you can use Word in
Safe Mode, then the problem is with Normal.dot, the Registry, an add-in, or
the printer, none of which is affected by a reinstall. You seem to have
eliminated every possibility except add-ins, so logically you should
investigate those.

Go to Customize Quick Access Toolbar drop-down. Click on More commands if
necessary to get to Add-Ins then select Manage "Add-Ins" and you'll be able
to add/remove. In my case the offending add-ins belonged to OmniPage 16 (x86)
and I'm running Vista 64-bit. Fixed my double-click stopped working problem.
I have no idea what the interactive glitch might be due to
