Microsoft Office XP (2003) Task Pane

Brad Schumacher

Hi

Is there any way to disable the taskpane that opens
everytime you select to create a new document from a
Template ? This is more specific to Word & Excel. A
business that I support does not like this function as it
adds a step to be able to access the workgroup templates
that they use.
I can stop the taskpane from opening with Word, but
everytime you select File - New it appears and the users
then has to find the link to the workgroup templates.

If this can be done please let me know.

Cheers
Brad

Can you elaborate on how the taskpane interferes with the workgroup
templates?

Brad,

Tools>Options>View>Show>Uncheck "Startup Task Pane"

The other Modules i.e. Excel, Access etc., have to be separately
de-selected.

That will turn off the "Getting Started" pane, but the "New" command brings
back the "New Document" task pane.

With all due respect Eric, how does one get rid of the "New" Task Pane intrusion?
It is a real Pane!

Alas, you can't remove the new task pane. The alternative (its predecessor)
was a popup dialog asking what kind of document to make, so frankly, I think
it's an improvement.

You know the hotkey to hide the taskpane (CTRL+F1), right?
