Microsoft Office XP Professional Mail Merge Issue

I am working in Microsoft Office XP Professional and am attempting to create
labels in Word using an excel spreadsheet. Everything merges fine into the
mail merge with the exception of the zip codes that begin with a zero. I
have tried formatting this excel column as text and typing a ' before the
zero. This does not help. Any suggestions?
