Re Office 2004 fpr Mac, Version 11.0 (040408)

Whenever I open Word or Excel document I get the error message "An
unexpected error occurred while trying to load the Microsoft Framework
library".

I suspect that this nhas something to do with the inordinate time it
takes for the program to auto-save, sometimes of the order of 20-30
minutes. When this happened recently I tried to Force Quit Word where
the screen showed that Word was "not responding".

To say that I am disappointed with the product is an understatement,
but perhaps there is a very simple explanation.

Can anyone hep?

If you receive a framework error, re-apply recent updates. A framework error
normally means one or more components of Office have not been updated
correctly and are now out of synch with other bits.

I would also suggest that you download the combo updater from Apple and run
it again rather than using Software Update. Doing so overwrites potentially
problem-causing files. Several users have reported this fixed some odd
problems they were having with Entourage. Combo updaters will install on the
same version as they¹re applying‹no need to roll back or do a clean install.

After you apply the Apple combo updater, run the Microsoft 11.3.5 updater.

The combo update installer updates Mac OS X 10.4, 10.4.1, 10.4.2, 10.4.3,
10.4.4, 10.4.5, 10.4.6, 10.4.7, or 10.4.8 to 10.4.9.

And just for the record, Rob, Word on the Mac does not AutoSave.

I hope Diane's suggestion resolves this. What you describe is certainly not
normal -- response times, including when you key Command-s to save, are
almost instantaneous in Word 2004.
