Microsoft Office

I purchased Microsoft Office for Teachers and Students
for xp system. I was wiped out by the worm virus, and
unfortunatly can not find my software to reload this. I
have my id# from the registration card. Is there a way
to have this reloaded without having to go out and buy
this again?

Thanks for your help,
Nancy

No, but if you can prove ownership contact MS they 'may' supply a new Disk
set.
In future keep all App disks and registration keys safe otherwise......well
you know.

I take it versions supplied in US are different, or a different method of
supplying to qualifying persons is in use in the UK

Don't know what you mean. I've installed many copies of Office and Windows
using the same CD or a copy. As long as I have a Product Key for each PC , it
has never been a problem. I'm not advocating piracy here(or anywhere, for that
matter). The rule is still one install per Product Key or one desktop and one
laptop in the case of the one of the standard versions of Office.

I perhaps misread, but I thought you were implying that a valid product key
would work with any App disk, even if it was not the disk that was
originally supplied with that product key.
This side of the pond the MS Office supplied for students/teachers is
identical to that supplied for retail, however the student/teacher has to
supply a certified document that they are a qualifying buyer, before they
receive the disks direct frm MS.

You didn't misread. Not to belabor this point, but the Product Key IS NOT
stored on the CD you buy. You CAN use any CD with a valid Product Key for the
same application. Setup checks the PK with an algorithm to make sure it is a
valid key. I have done this many times, that is, used a copy or used the same
CD with 2 different PK on two separate installations. Obviously you can't use
the PK from Office Pro XP to install Office Std. 2000, the PK must be for the
correct MS Product. The only requirement is that you have one Product Key for
each installation. Here, for example, is the MS URL to have an additional
PK(for WinXP) sent by email so you can use the CD you already have to install
XP on another machine:
