microsoft office2006 is locked

[microsoft office2006 is locked]

i have updated my microsoft office to 2006 but on opening of document doesn't
allow me to edit or update my files saying that the document is locked u
cannot write to it tell me what to do

Are you using the MS Office 2006 Small Business Management Edition (which is Office 2003 plus Small Business Accounting 2006) or are
you using MS Office 2007?

What is the exact error message and where are you seeing it?

What update did you apply?

Is the application activated, or was it a time limited trial?
