Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC (MSDASQL) with Sybase ODBC driv

I am trying to build a application monitoring dashboard using SharePoint and
its various web parts. The SharePoint installation is a standard company
build, with only ODBC drivers for Sybase (MERANT 3.60 to be specific). There
are a few Sybase instances that I will need to connect to from my data view
web part.

To create data source in Front Page 2003, I can only use OLE DB provider, so
I thought I'll try the OLE DB-ODBC bridge, and it doesn't work. I have no
control on the SharePoint installation so I cannot install native Sybase OLE
DB provider onto it.

Anyone has experience on how to use this OLE DB-ODBC bridge to connect to a
data source other than MS SQL Server?
