Microsoft Outlook encountered a problem and needs to close

Nate Carruthers

Hi. Every time I open Outlook I get this error box. I sent an error report
and downloaded all of the updates but I still get the error. Is there any
way to fix this? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you very much!

We need to know the Details. When you get an "Illegal Operation" or
"encountered a problem" message, there's usually a "Details" button or a
"click here" link to see the error report. When you click the button/link,
it will show a message like: XXXX caused an error in YYYY and a bunch of
register nonsense or it will list the Appname XXXX and Modname YYYY. The
XXXX and YYYY are important to identify the cause and solution. You can
ignore the rest of the message.

Does it also happen if you start Outlook in safe mode (with the /safe
program switch)?

I am also (suddenly) getting this error. I am using Office 2000 and the
error shows AppVer: 9.0.02416, Mod Name: mcmapi.dll, Mod Ver 7.0.1.3, Offset:
0000369f.
I've uninstalled Outlook and reinstalled but I'm still getting this error
and cannot get into Outlook at all.
