Microsoft Outlook Live Sluggish Behavior

I don't know if sluggish is the correct word to describe the lack of agility
when you run MS Outlook and have subscribed to MS Outlook Live and on a
broadband connect wait for 1-2 minutes on the average (80-100 seconds is
sluggish by the way) before your Hotmail folder is synchronized.

Even after selecting the option of only synchronizing headers and not
headers + bodies, it is slow. And I don't know why this is so. If HTTP was
chosen as the transport because of its seamless integration in all kinds of
firewalled/intranet/extranet environment, then sadly I find IMAP/POP
sessions in Outlook to be much more faster.

Secondly, if OUTLOOK.EXE is not resident, and I don't know how to make it
resident anyways, the load time of Outlook is much more than Outlook
Express. But yes Outlook Express has much less number of features. But no.
MS Word e.g. fires much more quickly than MS Outlook.

Any thoughts on improving the runtime/network performance of MS Outlook? I
paid for the program. I paid for the service. I need much more than just an
expanded disk space, which you can get for free from likes of Google
anyways.

Thanks,
Bilal

How many messages are in your hotmail folder? Outlook live doesn't use pure
HTTP - it is a mapi service, which is much slower than POP3. This allows you
to access the calendar and other folders in Outlook, which is one of the
selling points for outlook live.

do you have any addins installed? A large message store? If not, outlook
should start fairly fast, provided it is closing properly and doesn't need
to check the message store for error. (It will never be as fast as OE.)

The Inbox folder on Hotmail as reported from within Outlook shows 2075
messages. This is occupying 77MB of 2GB so I should fear about what could
happen if I am near 50% even.

I don't know how to check addins but looking at the added menus in the menu
bar I see

1) Outlook Connector (the one)
2) Adobe PDF (I have Acrobat 7 Professional)

What is going to happen to Outlook Live customers when Kahuna comes out?

Is there a way to make the "click on Inbox icon on the left and see updated
list of message headers on the right" experience faster in this MAPI based
service?
