Microsoft Project and Microsoft Access

I found an article on how to save project (Microsoft
Project) data to Microsoft Access 2.0 Database but the
article only applies to Microsoft Project for Windows 95
4.1 and 4.1a. I would like to know how to save project
data to Microsoft Access using the most current MS
Project and MS Access. Or at least direct me to where I
can find this information.

What I'm trying to do is use MS Project for all my
project management needs. However I want to be able to
create a website so that employees can keep track of
their projects and this will be stored in MS Access. But
then, I also want to open a project file from a MS Access
database.

Help.

Try this.
From file menu select "Save As"
In the dialog box that comes up there is an option for "Save as Type" at
the bottom.
Choose "Microsoft Access Database" and click OK.

Yes, I know how to save a Project file as a database
file. However, that's not what I'm getting at. I guess
to better explain myself, I want one database that
will "drive" both MS Project and MS Access. Can this be
done?

You can add access tables to a project database.
You should read the document called projdb.htm which you can find on your
project CD or computer where project is installed.
It is essential reading for working with the database.

Thanks. I'll make sure that I do that. But would I be
able to access information from the project database as I
would with access database? For example, I can use ASP
with Visual Basic to have dynamic webpages using data
from the an access database. Would I be able to do the
same with project database?

Yes, it is an access database so you can serve it up anyway you want.
Updating the database is a different story. The project needs to be opened
by the Project application in order to recalculate it.

Thanks a lot! I'll read the .htm file you mentioned
previously and I'll play with the two applications a
little more. If I do have additional questions, will I
be able to email you at momokuri@gmail?

Err...okay. Here's my situation:

I got MS Project to write to the database. Let's assume
I have three tasks (Task 1, Task 2, Task 3). If I went
into the database and changed Task 1 to Task 1A, and then
open the database with MS Project, the change occurs.
However, if I had a new task into database (Task 4) and
then open the database with MS Project, Task 4 doesn't
show up. What would you suggest I do?
