Microsoft Project data in XML Format

Is there any way of getting the project data from Microsoft Project Server
without using the PDS methods ?
The reason for asking the question is that if one does a Save As *.xml and
if one tries to get the data through ProjectData PDS the XMLs returned are
different in both the cases and the PDS response is not compliant with the
MSP Schema. Is there any way of getting data from MSP Server in XML format
which follows the project schema.

The PDS is the Project Server API, and does not follow the Project client XML
schema. You can programmatically open projects from Project Server using VBA
in Project Pro 2003, and then save them to XML files that follow the client
schema.
