microsoft update does not work for office 2003 since my version is

L

lievenme

I am a vista home premium user. a week ago I had an invalid office2003
version, due to an error of my school. Now I installed a valid
KIS-contract-version, validated by ms-genuine.

However, I don't receive SP3 and other necessary updates.

When I run microsoft update from the V6-website, I get
http://update.microsoft.com/microsoftupdate/v6/vistadefault.aspx?ln=nl
followed by a "windows update"-window saying me that "windows is up-to-date".

I know this isn't true, while I installed on a desktop in xp home too, and
there I got many updates.

Can you please help me? Thanks a lot.

Are you just using Windows Update or Microsoft Update?
In Vista - you update through the control panel not from the website.

Windows Update or Microsoft Update
http://www.microsoft.com/protect/computer/updates/mu.mspx

Note: If SP 1 is installed the option to start using Microsoft Update is
under Change Settings.

TaurArian, I tried everything but didn't succeed.

Now I download SP3 for office2003 from "microsoft download center" which was
suggested to me as I use firefox.

But automatic update doesn't work, microsoft update doesn't appear on the
start menu, win upd (from the start menu) allways says: everything OK.

Try the following:-

Open the Vista Start Menu search Bar and type: RUN

Click OK

Type the following lines and after each one click OK:-

regsvr32 jscript

regsvr32 vbscript

regsvr32 /i mshtml

No guarantees

Windows Update on the start menu is okay - from memory it doesn't change to
Microsoft Update.

may thanks, Taurarian

here is how I proceeded with your advice

regsvr32 jscript>>>>jscript is loaded but the call to DllRegisterServer got
error 0x80004005
regsvr32 vbscript>>>vbscript etc... same error
regsvr32 /i mshtml>>>mshtml is loaded but the entry to DllRegServer was not
found. make sure mshtml is a valid dll or ocx-file and retry

searching for that error I got the internet advice to go to start/all
programs/ accessories/command prompt/(right click)"run as an administartor"

I did all this and now the first pair of commands worked perfectly, but the
error on mshtlm persisted

many thanks for the anwers, but what now? windows update still tells me
everything is all-right.

what about mshtml???

many thanks for your ideas and patience!!

Again. Did you remove the previous version of Office. Was the previous version
updated with all the updates including SP3.

L

Peter

I removed it, and it had been updated. This was also the case with my
desktop (xp home) and there ms update works fine.

Hello TaurArian and Peter Foldes

since your last answers, you were silent...
I regret it.

Hopefull to hear from you again.

addendum:

I downloaded SP3 from downloadcenter and installing it (or trying to) I
received the message that it allready had been installed... I suppose this is
a contamination with the previous version....
