microsoft update vs windows update

A new feature was made available " microsoft update" vs "windows update". It
doesn't work and overides my old shortcut. Can't, find the file to remove it.
So I now cannot install new windows updates. Microsoft update cycles and
cycles and cycles and never completes with a list of new items.

Also did not know which community to "join aned ask".
