i have a folder on my desktop named "microsoft user data". it
includes some duplicate information for the ms office suite. it also
includes some other information that i can't decide if i need or not.
one file is named messages and opens up in entourage. however, i
don't know if it is copies of old messages from the previous operating
system or not. anyway, i'm confused. can i get rid of these files?

It's on your desktop ??? Are you sure it's not just an alias pointing to
~/Documents/Microsoft Users Data ???

You probably shouldn't delete the files from the MUD folder (the one in
~/Documents at least).

This folder can host a wide variety of files: Your Entourage database,
ENtourage scripts and soundsets, startup files for most Office apps.....
I wouldn't play too much with it unless you really know what you are
doing. Nevertheless I don;t see any reason why it should be on your
desktop (unless it's just an alias).
