Most experienced users of Office agree with you: the ribbon (I'm assuming
that's what you are referring to) wasn't anything that we wanted.
Microsoft's objective was to make the application more easy for
inexperienced users. While they may have accomplished that, the ribbon
primarily annoyed the rest of us, because we had to learn a new interface
for no good reason.
But there isn't anything we can do about the ribbon now. We're stuck with
it. (Over time, one discovers that the new interface isn't better or worse;
it's just different.)
