I recently had to reinstall my Microsoft Office 2000 Small Business, which I
did with a customized install. Upon installation of both discs, I tried to
open Microsoft Word 2000, but it would not open. An error message appears
when I try this, saying "Microsoft Word for Windows has encountered a problem
and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." I sent the Error
Report once after a couple of refusals, and I was redirected to the Microsoft
Office website. Here I downloaded all the updates for Microsoft Office 2000
except the ones for Outlook and Access as I do not use those.
How do I fix this problem? Below, I have included some details about my
computer that may help provide more information.
I am running Windows XP Home. I have Works 7.0 and Office 2003 (whose trial
version just expired). As far as I can tell, Excel 2000 and Publisher 2000
both work fine in that they will open; only Word 2000 has trouble opening.
