Microsoft Word 2000 has not been started or is not installed. Install and/or start application then

I am getting this message on two separate machines

Even though I have uninstalled and reinstalled Office 2000 pro on both
machines, and am able to run all office applications OK.


This same error appears for all office applications under SYSTEM
INFORMATION / APPLICATIONS / ANY SUB FOLDER / Summary under the Help
Menu / About selection

The XXXXX in the Error is the name of the office application, eg Excel
or Word etc

Microsoft XXXXX 2000 has not been started or is not installed. Install
and/or start application then press F5 to refresh.

I feel it is a registry corruption, and am not sure where to look, any
advise would be appreciated
