Hello Stephen,
I don't understand what you mean by "my default page". Is it in another
application? The Finder?
Maybe this will help: Word will open on login, and present a new blank
document, if you have Microsoft Word listed in the "Login items" under OS
X's Accounts setting. Here's how you do it:
Choose System Preferences from the Apple menu.
Choose Accounts from the View menu.
Click the name of the user.
Click the Startup Items button
Click the "Add (+)" button.
Post back if this answer is not relevant to what you had in mind -- but
please be more explicit. ;-)
Cheers,

* SUGGESTION -- KEEP REVISITING AFTER YOU POST: If you post a question, keep
re-visiting the newsgroup for several days after the first response comes
in. Sometimes it takes a few responses before the best or complete solution
is provided; sometimes you'll be asked for further information. Good tips
about getting the best out of posting are at
http://word.mvps.org/Mac/AccessNewsgroups.html and
http://word.mvps.org/FindHelp/Posting.htm (if you use Safari you may see a
blank page and have to hit the circular arrow icon -- "Reload the current
page" -- two or more times).
