Microsoft Word 2007 and Works freezes every time i "save"

I tried everything I can think of: reinstalling the program, copying
the document (except for the last paragraph) to a new blank document,
cleaning my computer, transferring it to Works (freezes there when i
save too!)....what can possibly be wrong? It's so frustrating since I
am trying to work on an essay but I have to constantly copy and paste
it into gmail.
Please help me out. I searched online and none of the results helped
me.

Your reference to "2007" & "Works" strongly suggests that you're on a PC but
you've posted to the Word for Mac newsgroup. I'm afraid there isn't much we
