Microsoft Word 2007 "Building Blocks.dotx" Dilemma

S

Saputo

I installed Microsoft office Home and Student 2007 trial on windows XP SP2 Pc
and later uninstalled it and installed a new Microsoft office Professional
Plus 2007. My dilemma now is the microsoft word 2007 program will not work
properly. Erorr message when I tried to use a gallery in word 2007: "word
cannot open this document template" (driver_letter:\...\1033\Building
Blocks.dotx) appears. Even the following Ribbon galleries are affected by
this problem: Autotext, Text Boxes, Footers, Headers ect. ect. I tried to
resolve this problem by following the steps outlined in the microsoft article
Id:925175 and many others, but was unsuccessful to solve it. Several attempts
using the repair feature in office professional failed. Is there a way I can
clean-out my pc of this word program files and reinstall from a clean slate
(PC) so to speak? Please, can somebody help me? I have searched microsoft
solution center but to no avail. Thanks!!!

*Move* do not rename as the KB article instructs, Building Blocks.dotx (and
any other renamed Building Blocks files you may have) out of the
%appdata%\Microsoft\Document Building Blocks\1033 folder. Don't worry about
copying the 'master' Building Blocks file in the Program Files Folder. Word
will recreate your personal Building Blocks file when you first access a
Building Blocks gallery or the Building Blocks Organizer.

Renaming the file does not prevent it from loading and the KB is incorrect
in the solution provided.
