Microsoft Word 2007 not responding

Word works fine, but when I try to close the screen, I get this message
"Microsoft Word (not responding)." Then I get a window that says "Microsoft
Word is not responding. If you restart or close program, it will try to
recover your information."
Close the program
Wait for the program to respond.
The only way to get out of the screen is to close the program from this
window.
Then I get a screen saying it is looking for solutions and trying to recover
documents. Any suggestions.

.. Many of the same issues that can prevent Word from starting
properly, can also prevent Word from closing properly.

Thanks for you input but I couldn't find anything that addressed the problem
I am having. Can I look anywhere else?

Are you saying that, without trying any of them, you dismissed
out-of-hand as irrelevant all of the suggested troubleshooting
steps in the cited article?

I did try those that I could understand how to use with no success. I
certainly didn't mean to infer that your help was not appreciated. I'm just
not computer saavy enough to understand some of the procedures.
