Microsoft Word 2008 crahs

I have a mac OS X version 10.5.8.
When I try to open Microsoft word I get the following message:

The application Microsoft Word quit unexpectedly.

Mac OS X and other applications are not affected.

Click Relaunch to launch the application again. Click Report to see
more details or send a report to Apple.

These are my problem details:

I've tried several times to restart my computer as well as restore and
relaunch microsoft word but I haven't seen any results.

Hi Sarah:

That's exciting!

The crash dump indicates that a major component of Word is not at the
expected place in your hard disk.

The best fix would be to run the Remove Office application to completely
remove all of the Office components.

Then re-install and re-update.

Both the "remove" and the "re-update" parts are particularly important: if
you do not "remove" using the tool, re-install will do nothing. And I you
do not update after the install, the software won't run properly (probably
not at all...)

You can save a lot of time in the updating by downloading Service Pack 2
from the Microsoft website and running it from your desktop.
