Microsoft Word Fails After Startup

Everytime I start up Word it will open word for a few seconds and then proced
to fail and try to recover the document. If I try to recover it will reopen
it and do the samething. If I choose not to recover the document it will just
close the application.

I have downloaded the latest Windows and Offices updates off of Micrsoft's
web site. I have also tried removeing and reinstalling office and also tried
it again with just word and this has not helped my problem. Any suggestion
would be great.

Thanks

I had this problem, and it was caused by having my computer using a printer
that was set up on another computer on my home network. It gave me the same
issue with both Office 97 Pro and Office XP Pro. It also fouled up fonts in
Excel. So far I have fixed the issue by uninstalling the printer and
forwarding documents and printing from the computer that is hooked physically
to the printer. I may get a second local printer.

You should be able to avoid this problem by installing the printer driver
locally even though you will be printing over the network. The printer
doesn't have to be physically attached to the computer or even available,
but the driver must be installed and selected as the default.

First off I would like to thank you for the help, I would have never thought
that installing the printer would do that to MS Word.

Thank You
Nick

Yes, Word is heavily dependent on information from the printer driver in
order to lay out pages.
