microsoft word for windows 2002

I would like to edit scanned documents. My scanner promts
me to scan to microsoft word but I cannot get into the
document to change the text. Please help or tell me what
I should do to find out. Thank you

Hi Paul,

You will need to use some Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to
convert the scanned output into a form that you can edit it in Word. Such
software comes with most scanners.

You need to install the rudimentary OCR software that comes with Office 2002
but is not installed by default. You'll then get the Microsoft Office Tools
entry Document Imaging.

Or as Doug suggested, you may have some bundled OCR software with your
scanner.

Better still get some real OCR software, such as Finereader 6, or Omnipage
11.
