microsoft word from office 97 and windows xp

i bought a new computer with windows xp and reistalled my
office 97 when i use word or excell it freezes up in the
program possibley incompatible i want to know if theres a
pathc to make it work with windows xp help me out here

Office 97 is compatible with Windows XP. However there are a few
recommended patches:

You can use the Office Product Updates site and use the Scan utility
to find any needed updates:
http://office.microsoft.com/ProductUpdates/default.aspx

Or you can download the patches manually. Here is some info on how to
obtain all of the updates:
