Microsoft Word has encountered a problem and needs to close

I have problems with documents in Word 2003 SP1 (Windows XP). I get the
message Microsoft Word has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are
sorry for the inconvenience.
Error Report, AppName:WinWord.exe AppVer:11.0.6359.0 ModName: ntdll.dll
ModVer:5.1.2600.2180 Offset:00010f29
Is there something I can do to resolve
this?
