Microsoft Word (Office 2000)

Melissa Murray

I am having trouble with my Microsoft Word program. It worked fine for years
and then one day my tool bar went away and I have NO way to exercise any
commands (like open, save, print, file, fonts or ANYTHING). I have no idea
where they went and have had several people look at it and no one can tell
how to get them back on my computer. I can still open all my existing Word
documents but I have to go into "My Documents" to pull them up. And then
they come up with no tool bar as well. We have tried removing the program
from the computer and then loading it back on (because the disk still works
when recently loaded on my laptop) but it still comes up with the same
problem on my desktop when reloaded. (My laptop works fine with the
program). So now I need to know if there is something in my current files
that may be holding the problem and if I should back them up and remove them
as well before I load the program back on the computer. Please let me know
if anyone knows anything about what to do about this. Thanks so much.

Hello Melissa,

You've landed in a discussion group for users of Mac versions of Word (not
your fault: it's a charming foible of MS's "discussions" web interface,
which I see you used). Mac versions differ variously from PC versions.
Although several people here use both PCs and Macs and may give you an
answer soon, it's likely that more people in a PC group have experienced
your specific problem. Here's where all the groups are listed:

(Make sure you give details of the versions of updates, not only of Office
or Word but also of your operating system.)

Cheers,
