Microsoft Word Online Crash 97 SR-1

Since December, Microsoft Word Online Crash happens every time I try
resolivng this problem. There is a stationary 1/4 inch horizontal line with a
flashing vertical line above it that I can move but it does not print text.
Would this problem be eliminated if I uninstalled Microsoft Word 97 SR-1 and
then Downloaded it from Microsoft?

I can't quite be sure, but this sounds like what you should see in an
ordinary document in Normal view. The horizontal line represents the
end of the document, and the flashing vertical line is the insertion
point (the cursor where letters are entered when you type).

The crashes are probably related to something completely different.
See http://www.word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErrors/ProbsOpeningWord.htm for
troubleshooting procedures.

In any case, whatever the problem is, it probably won't be solved by
uninstalling. Crashes are usually caused by something in a template or
a document, and the uninstall/reinstall cycle doesn't touch them.

Thank you. I suspect you have the right thoughts in that the problem is big
or bigger. I will write when I can check out your leads.

Suzanne, thank you for your fast response and for giving me a website that
may provide an answer. Dandy

On rereading your message and Jay's reply, I have realized that my reply was
irrelevant. As Jay says, the end-of-document line and cursor are normal (I
misread the 1/4 inch as referring to the vertical line).

Thanks, Suzannefor today's response.
I don't know what to do with this information. Do you?
Word’s document shuts down, a screen comes up: ‘Microsoft encountered a
problem’......
