Microsoft Word Problem

P

Pronto

Suddenly, when I type lower case C (c) plus a full colon :)) I get
the symbol for a trademark (TM). Why, and now can I fix this
annoyance?

Thank you.

Check Tools | AutoCorrect to see if this is listed as an AutoCorrect entry
(shouldn't be necessary since there's another entry already defined for the
trademark symbol).

I did this, and it was listed under TWO places: the regular one and (I
checked further) lower case C. I deleted the latter - and all was
okay.

Thank you.

P.S. Would you know why this happened in the first place?

Does anyone else use your system besides you? I would appear that someone
intentionally saved this AutoCorrect entry. Keeping in mind that unformatted
AutoCorrect entries are shared by all Office apps, it's entirely possible
that it was done in, say, Excel or Outlook or PowerPoint.

Like I wrote, I'm the only one who uses my computer. Since I certainly
did not set the problem to occur, I suspect it was someTHING external.

Operator error is rarely intentional.
