Microsoft Word Program Not Responding - What do I do?

Word usually works fine but since this afternoon it has not opened properly -
I can't access any work or anything to do with Word. It is "Not Responding"
Please help us if you can This computer (Dell Dimension 8300) is less than
12 months old and has Windows XP. We have Microsoft Office 97 which has
worked well until today.

But before you start troubleshooting Word, have you rebooted Windows? This
solves a multitude of problems.
