Microsoft Word Unexpectedly Closes

Hi.
Everytime I press the return key when typing in a word document (old or new)
MS unexpectedly closes with no error message. In the case of an existing
document a new document with the same name (except the first two letters
which are changed to ~$) is created in the same folder. I am running Windows
X and Office 2000 with all the updates. Also Norton Systemworks Premier but
this one does not seem to be the problem because I deactivated it and the
problem continues. Thanks

Possibly a corrupt printer driver. Try deleting the printer and reinstalling
it.

The ~$<filename>.doc file is the owner file; it is a relic of the crash but
not created by it (it is created when you create or open the document). For

Thanks. I just deleted the printer and still the same problem. Any other
