Microsoft word X for Mac, macros don't work

Hi

I'm using Microsoft word X for Mac Service Release 1 and the macros just
don't work. I'm just trying to insert page numbers and get the field that
says - {PAGE}

Anyone have any ideas as to how to fix this?

That doesn't have anything to do with macros.

Page numbers are actually a field--you are just seeing the field codes that
tell Word what to print there (the page number, in this case), instead of
the result of the field. Those curly brackets denote a field {}
--hyperlinks, for instance, are also fields.

To see the result of the field instead:

Control-click/Right-click and select Toggle Field Codes
OR
Hit option-F9 (might not work depending on Exposé settings)
OR
Go to Word | Preferences, View tab and uncheck the box for field codes.

By the way, if your About number says SR 1, you might not be updated all the
way. See here for how to tell:

The About... numbers are unreliable.
