Microsoft Word

Hi

Can anyone one help me get rid of a letter that keeps appearing when I log
onto Microsoft word. I have tried to delete the letter but it wont let me,
and I have even installed a new version of Office for students and the letter
still appears when I log onto Word . What is wrong with it, and why can't I
get a blank page??
