When I open some word documents the date changes
automatically inspite of the automatic update button not
being utilised. Can anyone advise as to how I can
rectify this problem.

Hi, Margaret,

Right-click the date and choose Toggle Field Code. In the field code you'll
see either DATE or TIME. Change that to CREATEDATE. Then right-click it and
choose Update Field.

If you're using a template to make these documents, you should make the same
change in the template so you won't have the problem in new documents.

When you originally inserted the date using Insert > Date
and Time, you must have checked the Update Automatically
checkbox. Insert the date again with the checkbox
unchecked.
