I have a manuscript in word that I want to copy to disc
and can find no instructions as to how to do it. Your
help will be appreciated.

File/Save As & choose 3-1/2 Floppy (A) from the drop-down
menu, give it a name in the File Name field and click
Save.

No! Do not ever save directly to a floppy. This is one of the top causes of
document corruption. The OP correctly asked for a way to "copy" a document
to a floppy. This is most easily done in Windows Explorer, by just dragging
the file to the floppy drive.
