Microsoft word

When I start up microsoft word, the program hangs for a few seconds on the
splash screen and then loads up. Usually when you install office for the very
first time, all programs load up within a few seconds. Excel loads fast, word
does not. Any ideas on what to do? On another forum board, it was suggested
that my virus software was interferring with the program. I don't know if
that is true or not.

AV software is as good a place as any to start. If you have Norton AV,
uncheck its office plug-in.
