Microsoft World Indexing

I don't understand why some of my Word files get indexed and some
don't. They've all been created by me, about the same time, I use
Microsoft Word 2002 -- I even went into preferences and added the
specific directory I needed to search. Files are not too long. What's
the problem? Anybody know?
