Hello,

I need to migrated a Project Server 2003 to 2007. Instead of migrating, I
would like to export the projects/resources from Project Server 2003 and
re-import them to Project Server 2007. Here are my questions :

1. Is it possible to export Project with MS project 2003 from a EPM 2003 and
save it as mpp file. Than re-import these mpp file from MS Project 2007 to
EPM 2007 ?
2. Does the method described in point 1) above keep the actuals ?
3. How can I export admin project from EPM 2003 and import then into EPM
2007 ? Is is possible to import them as admin project or only as standard
project ?
4. If I have a server with EPM 2007 in production (4 prod databases). Now,
on the same server, is it possible to make a backup of the 4 prod databases,
restore them with different name (test db), and create a new instance of
Project using these databases to use them as a test environment ?

Thanks

Hi,

See my answers of all of your questions below:

1. Yes, the only difference is that you have to open projects by using
MS Project Professional 2003 and save it as .XML format and then re-
open the .XML file from Project Professional 2007 and save it to EPM
2007 server.

2. It will keep the actual.

3. Use MS Project export utility to export admin projects. Infact you
can export all projects including Enterprise global by using that
approach. I have explained this on my site in detail.

4. Yes, you can do this.
