Migrate Project Server

J

Jon Doh

Hi,

I've got a Project Server 2007 instance running on WSS (WSS is on MSDE),
that i'd like to move to a new instance of Project Server running on top of
MOSS and SQL 2005.

I'm attempting to follow the instructions here:
http://technet2.microsoft.com/Offic...0126-4776-86bf-96f6c02c8cb71033.mspx?mfr=true

However the instructions aren't particularly clear, for example when doing
the restore what do i need to restore, the whole farm (won't this override
my existing MOSS environment?) or just the Project Server Application?

Has anyone done anything similar to this in the past and could point me in
the right direction?

Many thanks,
Jon

Hi,

I have the same issue as Jon, but your post relates to Project Server 2003.
We would like to do a migration from one Project Server 2007 instance to
another one. The Technet-Articles describe the steps not precisely enough.

Has anyone successfully archieved this?

Thanks
Adrian

Hi unforunatelly there will be problem with project workspaces.

And yoe will not be able perform this operation using the standart
suported way.

1) Attach your WWW content DB on WSS farm
2) Create new instance of PWA (PWA2)

your new PWA instance wil be pouinting to sites in old directory
(PWA)

this is was the supported staf :) but you shoudl now that in
Project_Server_Published DB is stored information where is located PWA
web and you can change this information here :) but you shouldn't do
it this way.
