Migrating Custom Categories Outlook2000 to Outlook2003

I need to migrate custom categories onto a PC running
Windows XP and Outlook 2003, from one running Windows 2000
and Outlook 2000 (the pst file is saved to be compatible
with Outlook 2000). The 'old way' was to export the
registry key. Would it be safe, and will it work, across
operating systems?

around easily.
