Migrating from Access to Webservice - Is it possible/reasonable?

Ray Price

I'm starting an initial proof of concept for tracking maintenance work in a
datacenter. At some point we will have an Oracle database upon which to base
our Infopath forms. In the near term, I'm thinking that the shortest path to
getting something usable (for 5 - 10 users) is to base my forms off of MS
Access. Once the Oracle database is available, is it feasible to migrate the
MS Access based forms to a web service sitting in front of the Oracle DB?

My other option is to use Sharepoint as the Forms repository and then
migrate from there.

Or, I guess I can just rebuild the whole shootin-match.

Thanks.

Hi Ray,

Yes it is. To make sure that you don't have to modify your IP form when
that happens, you can build a Web Service now to link to your Access DB.
That way, when you switch to Oracle, a simple Web Service update will do the
trick.
