Migrating MS Office applications (not settings) to a new computer

My old laptop is dying (video going out) and I want to migrate everything
from the old system (running XP Home) to a new machine running XP Pro. I
wanted to do a direct connect migration, but I can't just copy over entire
directories for MS Office and System, etc.

Is there a way to migrate the MS Office Suite of apps over directly w/o
having to do a re-install from the CD and then try to migrate over the
settings and files seperately?

No, installation from cd required - though some have apparently used a third
party app to move apps, sometimes works, sometimes requires a repair
installation.
This assumes a retail version of office and not an OEM
