migrating project 2003 to MOSS 2007

Hi,
We have Project 2003 server with Sharepoint 2.0 running on SQL 2000, SP3
running on a 32 bit Domain Controller. We need to migrate it to a new 64 bit
member server running MOSS 2007, Sharepoint 3.0, with SQL 2005. I have
searched for documentation but have not found any step-by-step instructions.
Can anyone point us in the right direction? Thanks in advance for your help.

Thanks Ben for your help, I thought I could just backup and restore the SQL
Databases but it looks more complicated than that. Looks like I have some
fun ahead of me.

Just to make this perfectly clear for me as I have not been able to find
specific direction. Is it possible to integrate Project Server 2003 with
MOSS 2007?

Just to make this perfectly clear for me as I have not been able to find
specific direction. Is it possible to integrate Project Server 2003 with
MOSS 2007?

Both Project Server 2003 and MOSS 2007 are very extensible platforms,
so it is undoubtedly possible to integrate them in some way. But it
will require some development.

Can MOSS 2007 replace WSS 2.0 for Project Server 2003 Risks, Issues
and Documents? No, not without extensive development.

What are you trying to achieve?

I'm just trying to integrate the two products in the same way as Project 2003
integrates with WSS 2.0. We currently have WSS 2.0 and Project 2003
integrated. I'm in the process of migrating the sites in WSS 2.0 to MOSS
2007 and need to migrate the Project Server Sites (created from the
integration between WSS 2.0 and Project 2003). These sites do not function
when migrated. Sites not created through this integration do function. When
I attempt to connect Project 2003 to the MOSS 2007 server I receive the
following message

"The Project Workspace template is missing from the Web server running
Windows SharePoint Services. Run the SharePoint Configuration Wizard on the
Web server running Windows SharePoint Services and then update the connection
information."

Thanks,

James

Yep, as you discovered, Project Server 2003 calls WSS 2.0 in specific
ways (I don't know the details of the API) but those functions are not
the same in MOSS 2007 (or WSS 2007 for that matter). So Project Server
2003's built-in sharepoint integration won't talk nicely to a MOSS
2007 server.

That is what I needed to know. Thanks very much. Looks like we will either
have to support WSS 2.0 just for the Project 2003 sites or upgrade both
platforms.
